Research Interests

My current research interests gravitate around finding ways to help product designers and process engineers plan the manufacturing process of their products in a more environmentally benign manner.  To this end, I am looking into different ways to mathematically model and estimate environmental burdens of machining and cleaning processes at the early stages of product development to allow engineers to make tradeoffs that are better for the product and the environment.  My hope is that this research work will lead to practical approaches for helping engineers that are not environmental experts to make environmental assessments in industry in the near future.
