Research Interests

Product Development, Geometric Modeling and Finite Element Method, Design Optimization and Design Automation, Design for Manufacturing.

PhD Research: Computer aided engineering with a focus on product optimization of low volume ratio structures. Geometric modeling, finite element analysis, engineering optimization, continuum mechanics, rapid prototyping, and design for manufacturing are utilized to support the design for optimum shape and topology (CAD/CAE/CAM). These low volume ratio structures, such as least-weight components, movement transformer/amplifier and negative Poisson’s ratio material, are designed for high rigidity or flexibility. Relative projects:  Lightweight Truss Structure and Digital Clay.
