Research Interests

My research plan is to develop a methodology for the co-design of a system and its controller.  Currently, a plant or dynamic system is designed and implemented, at which point a controls expert designs a controller or control input to meet the desired specifications or to achieve the desired behavior.  At this stage, however, a controller may be severely limited by the physical contstraints or dynamics of the plant, which may have limited controllability.  Ideally, the controller possibilities should be considered during the design stage, and the plant and controller should evolve together in order to ensure a successful outcome.
