DETC 2005 Student Essay Contest
We seek to make it possible for design students to attend the 2005 ASME Design Technical
Conferences in Long Beach, California, September 24-28, 2005. Travel grants will be based on
the outcome of a competition. The competition involves writing a research paper that addresses
issues that are foundational to the creation of a scientific formalism for design. There are
separate categories for graduate students and undergraduate students. Faculty volunteers will be
judges. Judging criteria are based on the contestant’s potential for scholarship.
