Faculty Position in Information Engineering of Complex Engineered Systems

We seek to fill an anticipated tenure-track position in Information Engineering of Complex Engineered Systems, preferably at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in information technologies that address problems at the boundaries between mechanical engineering disciplines, broadly interpreted. We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate a commitment to work at the interface between information technologies and system realization (design, manufacturing, life-cycle activities, etc.) in distributed engineering environments.

Information Engineering of Complex Engineered Systems

The George W. Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering

Georgia Institute of Technology

We seek to fill an anticipated tenure-track position in Information Engineering of Complex Engineered Systems, preferably at the rank of Assistant Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in information technologies that address problems at the boundaries between mechanical engineering disciplines, broadly interpreted. We are particularly interested in candidates who demonstrate a commitment to work at the interface between information technologies and system realization (design, manufacturing, life-cycle activities, etc.) in distributed engineering environments. Some example application domains include:

  • Physics-based models of materials and processes for the distributed analysis and design of engineered systems, such as multifunctional composites or tissue scaffolds.
  • Design, analysis, and fabrication aspects of sensors and nanostructures
  • Transition of emerging manufacturing processes (e.g., solid freeform fabrication) to large-scale manufacturing systems for the production of small lot-size, customized products

This position is particularly suitable for persons who can contribute to a growing interdisciplinary, team-oriented community at Georgia Tech that is committed to attaining excellence in a research-based, systems realization and information technology program. Initial inquiries about the position may be directed to eithe
