Chris Williams, a former SRL student and current assistant professor at Virginia Tech, along with SRL professors Farrokh Mistree and David Rosen received the Best Paper Award at the 2008 Design for Manufacturing and the Life-Cycle Conference.

Please, join me in congratulating Chris Williams, Farrokh Mistree and David Rosen. They received the best paper award of the DFMLC conference at IDETC/CIE earlier this week (DFMLC is the new name for the old DFM conference and stands for Design for Manufacturing and the Life-Cycle). Their paper is titled: "A Functional Classification Framework for the Conceptual Design of Layered Manufacturing Technologies."

Chris Williams graduated at the end of last year and is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering Education at Virginia Tech. Congratulations, Chris -- a great way to start your academic career!
